In years past, March 2 would have most likely been spent eating green eggs and ham with my kids. Actually, I would usually do a whole week or two with Dr. Suess activites but green eggs and ham was always saved for his actual birthday.
I've always liked Dr. Suess. Once in Jr. High I even did a book report on him! When I was a kid my favorite book was probably Go, Dog, Go! because of the pictures. Now? I'm not sure. Now I like them because they're fun to read out loud but I don't have a chance to do that very often anymore. Probably my favorite one to read out loud is either The Grinch Who Stole Christmas or The Sneeches. Or if I'm really feeling motivated, I like to read Fox in Sox. Especially the last part abou the beetle battle. Here- try for yourself!
Let's have a little talk about tweetle beetles....
What do you know about tweetle beetles? Well...
When tweetle beetles fight,
it's called a tweetle beetle battle.
And when they battle in a puddle,
it's a tweetle beetle puddle battle.
AND when tweetle beetles battle with paddles in a puddle,
they call it a tweetle beetle puddle paddle battle.
AND...
When beetles battle beetles in a puddle paddle battle
and the beetle battle puddle is a puddle in a bottle...
...they call this a tweetle beetle bottle puddle paddle battle muddle.
AND...
When beetles fight these battles in a bottle with their paddles
and the bottle's on a poodle and the poodle's eating noodles...
...they call this a muddle puddle tweetle poodle beetle noodle
bottle paddle battle.
AND...
Now wait a minute, Mr. Socks Fox!
When a fox is in the bottle where the tweetle beetles battle
with their paddles in a puddle on a noodle-eating poodle,
THIS is what they call...
...a tweetle beetle noodle poodle bottled paddled
muddled duddled fuddled wuddled fox in socks, sir!
Fox in socks, our game is done, sir.
Thank you for a lot of fun, sir.
One of my favorite activites to do was to read The Shape of Me and Other Stuff and then trace my kids profiles for all to see. They always like seeing their profiles on the wall too.
And now in honor of Sylvester McMonkey McBean (the fix-it-up chappie on the beaches with sneeches)...

Love this post! :) I am a big fan of Sneeches, as well. Also, Abel likes the board book Go Dog Go. It is not the same at the full length ones, but has the same pictures. He opens it up and says, "Go Go Go!" (the middle "go" is supposed to be dog...) You get the picture!
Happy Birthday Dr. Suess.
Sarah, I think I remember that book report. I love you. God bless you and a fish kiss to you!!
