No More Fleeing

Yes, it's true. I plan on staying around for awhile now. Unfortunately. Not that I don't love all you home folk. Cause I really do. But I also really like this fleeing the country stuff. But since the funds are low and Jacob's Ladder is calling my name, I suppose it's best to just stay put for awhile. So I had a good time in Florida. I was really glad I decided to swing by for a couple days. And yes, we do still want to move there.
Jamaica was awesome. There were 32 or 33 of us on the team. I felt like we were really united the whole week and we really had a good time with each other. I love seeing all the kids in Kingston. They're just the best. And I really love my two kids that I sponsor. One is a very sassy, spunky 14 year old girl. But she's also a lot of fun and does know how to be sweet. The other is an 11 year old boy who is a little shy and has more of a quiet personality until you get him with his buddies. Then he's a typical little boy. But he's really sweet and does a good job taking care of his sister who is also there at the school. And he is a really good helper when we're working. I know I'm not supposed to be proud, but I was proud of him.
We did some cement work but there was a huge shortage of cement in the country so we only had enough for one morning's worth of work. It was sad. I love cement work. We make some drawers for the kid's dorms because theirs were shot. We did a little bit of painting. We got a second story floor all ready to pour for whenever there's no longer a cement shortage. We put a new tin roof on the pavillion where we all congregate. Then we did all kinds of odds and ends jobs. Had our traditional pizza party with the kids. 50 pizza's.
Friday was our trip to Ocho Rios/Dunns River Falls. I haven't been there in 4 years so it was fun to go back again. I got to take both my kiddos with me. Cassandra and Rushedie are their names. I didn't get a whole lot at the straw market. I do that every time. Get maybe one or two small things then later when it's too late wish I would have gotten more. Oh well. Cassandra ditched me and went up the falls 5 times. I'm a chicken. A slow chicken. So I barely made it up once and that was enough for me. I think if I would have gone again I would have been okay but I was feeling pretty unstable and petrified and so I just stayed on the beach and played with Rushedie and some of the other students that went with us for the rest of the time.
Friday night was the Hands of Praise team program which is always a tear jerker. I somehow didn't cry this time when the did "Thank You" but I did cry during a song called "The Midnight Hour". I think that's the name of it. I really liked it and they got really into it. It gave me a longing for heaven. Then one of our team members tried to get us to stay up all night. I made it till about 2:30 and decided it was dumb because I really wanted sleep. So I went to bed until about 4:15 before we got up to go to the airport. I thought I was going to be alone the whole day in all those airports that I was going to but I found out Friday that 4 other people had the same schedule as me. I was really thankful that they were there so I wouldn't be so lonely. But then we split in Chicago cause their car was there but I was going onto Bloomington. So after we said goodbye I was roaming through O'Hare, feeling a little lost and very sad and lonely with my face all screwed up to try and keep from bawling. But then my brother called me and that put me in a better mood. I finally got home about quarter till 11. That was one long day.
Tonight we had communion in Roanoke. It was good. But we had to cut it just a tiny bit short because of tornado warnings and we all went to the basement for awhile. But now I'm finally back home. I guess it is home sweet home.

Fleeing the Country Round 2

I'm leaving again today. Woo hoo! I'm going to Florida tonight for a couple days and then Friday morning I leave for Jamaica. I'm really ready to leave. Especailly when I woke up this morning to see all the snow. I sure hope it's cleared up enough for my plane to take off. It should be though because I don't leave until 5:30 this evening. I get back April 1st at 9:30 at night. My flight leaves Kingston that morning around 7 something. Then I go to Miami, New Orleans, Chicago, and finally Bloomington. But I checked out 3 books from the library to keep me entertained. All right well I really need to go start getting ready for the day. Have a good rest of the month. I'll talk to you all later.

Tip for Guys

So last night I was at Target and there was a couple walking together. The separted for a little while and then the guy I guess wanted the girl to come see what he found. So he yells through about 3 aisles... "SWEETIE!" Then he whistled at her like you would whistle at a dog. My tip to guys is Never, Never, Ever NEVER do that to your girl. I just stared in disbelief and thought he was a jerk.

Boredom

I'm all alone.... There's nobody here...... So me and Meika are the only ones home this week and we haven't seen each other hardly at all. She was gone Sunday night, I was gone last night, she's working tonight and tomorrow night, we'll both be here Thursday but not until later and I'll be gone all weekend. So much for a party with just the two of us.
Last night I helped my dad load turkeys. Okay so I didn't really help in the actual loading, I just shook a stick with a garbage bag on the end of it to shoo the turkeys where they were supposed to go. But I was out there long enough to wake up with turkey poop eyes this morning. Turkey poop eyes is when it feels like you have pink eye but really you don't. It's just all the dust and poop and stuff from the turkeys.
Today I went to Bloomington with my mom. She bought me lunch at FlatTop Grill (woo hoo!) and then took me to my eye appointment. They tell me I'm not blind. That's a good thing. Today we also picked out the colors and carpet for my room that's getting redone at my parents house. It's been in the redecorating process for over a year now. We like to do things quick where I come from. But I really like what we got and now I'm excited to get it all done finally.
Well I think I'm going to close with a deep question for the day. And that is: How do you make a kleenex dance?

My New Hero

I have a new hero. It is our cook at work. She was gone today and so were three teachers. So the rest of us all got shuffled around. I got shuffled to the kitchen. And I am absolutely exhausted. She's out of there between 1:30 and 2:00 every day and I barely made it out at 3. And that was with someone coming in and helping me out at the end. I don't have any plans at all this weekend but after today I'm glad. It's going to take me a few days to recover I think. But anyways, I have seen the cook in a new light. And I'm glad that I don't have do do her job every day. Very glad.

Awesome

My weekend was just what the title says it was. Had a blast with everyone. Wish it didn't have to be over. Jeremy flew to Ohio and drove to Illinois with Sam. Had lunch at Bevy's on Saturday. Went to Kirby's for a little while. Had supper at Avanti's. Went back to Erin's. Sang aroung the piano. Played around the world ping pong toss the paddle version. Played I have never, which is always a good time but that night seemed to be more fun than in times past. After the wedding on Sunday people came back to our apartment and a few stayed till about quater after one. We won't mention any names. By the time we cleaned up and did a little rehashing and got all ready for bed it was about 2:30. I need to be at work at 7 so that made for a very short night. Except for the fact that Bekah came in to wake me up at 7:25. Oops. Normally I feel absolutely horrible and apologized profusely to my boss but I was so tired and happy for the extra 1 1/2 hours of sleep that I really didn't care. But then last night I was asleep by 9. Actually I turned off my light around 8:20 but then decided that it was ridiculously early and got back up and read for another 1/2 hour or so. Tonight I took Erin out for her birthday. We had a very good, very much needed conversation. So Angie, even though I really should have went with you first, I'm really glad it worked out how it did. But see now you just have something to look forward to, right? Right? Anyways, that's my current life. I need to go take the trash out. And it's raining. Yuck. Have a good day.
