September Smatterings

One day I was doing dishes and couldn't quite decide where Summer was playing or what she was doing.  But I could hear things every now and then so I figured nothing too bad was going on.  When I was finished in the kitchen I sat down and read her a book and THEN looked over to her toy basket.  Filled with her dirty diapers that she had carried one by one from her room to the basket.  I had to laugh out loud on that one!

We made applesauce one day!  Only a half bushel but it's enough for us right now.

Start 'em out young:)

We got to spend almost a week with our nieces while their parents were on vacation.  We had a lot of fun with them but were pretty wiped out by the time we got done!  (Five kids is juuuuust a little different than one.)

Someone learned the art of walking in princess shoes.  Kind of.  But when she's successful she's pretty excited about it!

We had a really quick, short and sweet trip out to IL this past weekend.  Aaron and Cassie had planned to go and invited us to tag along and so of course we did!  On the drive out there, I discovered that Cassie had never ridden in a combine.  I was a little bit shocked and appalled.  So we made it happen:)  And then I got to ride for about 20 or 30 minutes which is the extent of my harvest experience this year.  Maybe next year I won't be ready to pop and will be able to spend a little more time enjoying it.

October is just around the corner and while we have some plans, we also have a lot of waiting around and laying low, just waiting for this baby!  I've gotten a little sentimental about Summer not being my baby anymore so I'm trying to just really enjoy her these next few weeks.  But not so sentimental that I'm not really excited to meet our little guy!  Ready or not I guess...

One Last Outing...

This past weekend Danny boy and I headed down to Indy for the day for one last fun thing with just the two of us before the baby comes.  We pretty much spent our time in the downtown area.  I had never really been to Indy before besides just driving through so I was pretty excited!  We started off our day with lunch at PF Changs and spending some time at Circle Center Mall.  I love PF Changs and Danny loves Asian food but had never been there so it was easy to decide where to eat:)

Next we headed to the canal and walked along that for awhile.  Soooooo romantic.  Well, not exceptionally but it was nice:)

When we walked past the Indiana State Museum, we saw this square dancing thing going on.  So many old people all dressed up in their dancing garb!  They tried pretty hard to get anyone on the sidelines to join in, but we graciously declined;)

On our way home we stopped at this Goodwill outlet store someone had told us about.  Oh my, people.  When this person told me about it I asked her if it was pretty much the junk of the junk.  To which she said yes.  And let me tell you.  It was the JUNK of the JUNK!!!  Even Danny, who is a natural garage sale/thrift store person thought it was a little much!  But it was fun to see and we did actually consider getting a Christmas decoration.  And then decided not to.

The only downside of the day was that I felt sick the whole time.  We also made a stop at Monument Circle which looked cool to me, but I was so wiped out by that point that Danny went to walk around a little bit while I stayed in the car and took a nap.  So for supper I just got Sprite and pretzels from a gas station and he did fast food drive thru.  Which included trying a slider from White Castle because he's just always wanted to try it and see if it's as nasty as everyone says it is:)  For someone not feeling so hot, it sure smelled nasty!!

But all things considered, we made the best of it and still had a good time checking out the city.  Now it's time to buckle down and really get ready for this baby!  (As much as one can be ready for a baby that is...)

The Weekend Of Labor (But Not Really)

Once again we headed west this weekend to my homeland!  I think we planned on spending Labor Day weekend in IL like, way back in early spring or something.  We knew we would be camping with Danny's family over Memorial Day weekend so we decided the next long weekend could be out there.  Plus it was my birthday weekend so it was just a no brainer!

On the drive out Danny asked me if I wanted to do something fun for my birthday besides just sit around my parent's house all Saturday afternoon.  So we settled on Tanner's Orchard.  I had never been there but always wanted to go.  So we left Summer with grandma and headed out!  We had fun doing the corn maze, checking out the animals, snacking on an apple cider doughnut, and going through the market.  So many free samples!!

(It was so bright and I'm so squinty.  Why I didn't just put my sunglasses on is beyond me!)

Then we went back to my brother's house for supper and a campfire.  My parents had plans so we invited our cousins and their families for the evening.  And we had to take a matchy matchy picture with the three of us:)

It was the perfect day to kick off the fall season!

Sunday night we were with my family.  After one big family naptime, we ordered Pizza Place, which is a pretty frequent request of mine whenever we're back there:)  Later, Danny and I announced we were going to go on a walk and if anyone wanted to come they could.  Guess who came?  EVERYBODY!  But it was a fun and relaxing little evening stroll.

Although my niece tried to do it a little more unconventionally:)

Since Monday was a holiday we got to spend Sunday night too.  We hung out until lunch and ate with my family before saying our goodbyes and hitting the road.

At first I had been a little bit bummed because some friends I wanted to see were out of town.  But the weekend ended up meeting and exceeding any expectations I had and I came home feeling all invigorated:)  (And one year older)  But I loved every minute of it!
